Iva König is architect at IBA (Internationale Bau Ausstellung) Parkstad. IBA is looking for innovative, future oriented projects that are of sustainable significance for the development of a city or an area. IBA is not active in construction, but connects and manages processes. Since 2015, Iva also holds function as secretary for the Ontwikkelraad Erfgoed (Development Council for Heritage), monuments & churches in cooperation with Fons Asselbergs.
After achieving her Master of Science at the Delft University of Technology in 2002, Iva completed her post-graduate training initiated by Chief Government Architect Jo Coenen. After that, Iva completed a part-time study to become a furniture maker. Iva worked for projects in Asia and Africa and has since worked for a number of projects in The Netherlands.
From 2002-2014 Iva has worked as an architect for Jo Coenen & Co Architects where she has been involved in a fine selection of renowned Dutch projects such as Stibbe Headquarters at the financial district of Amsterdam, DelaMar Theatre van den Ende in Amsterdam and concert venue Tivoli Vredenburg in Utrecht. Besides her position at IBA, Iva nowadays provides lectures, congresses, presentations and exhibitions.
When judging the Redevel(o)p submissions, which aspects in particular will you be paying attention to?
“My focus during the assessment of the submissions will be twofold. I will take a good look at the interaction between buildings and nature on the one hand and on the way the design handles the stratification of privacy on the other hand.”
